Crayons capturing a shot on the Arbaeen walk, Najaf to Karbala.
Description
This product is a print of a crayon study I created based on a photograph I took during the spiritual walk between Najaf and Karbala in Iraq. The love, generosity, patience, and spirit shown by the Shia Muslims along the journey was truly unmatched. You’re surrounded by so many cultures, languages, and expressions of enthusiasm, but one universal characteristic stood out: love.
I made this piece as part of my Arbaeen project during the first semester of my third year at university. I had taken countless photos of flags, but this particular study felt unique. Unlike the others, it not only featured a flag, or several flags, but also included the shadow of a person, a truck, and a sunrise. I used a light watercolor wash to create the sunrise in the background, adding a softer, more reflective tone to the piece.
